Role: Mine Captain (X2)
Reporting: Underground Manager
Job Purpose: Manage resources to ensure production targets are achieved for development, stoping, tramming and backfilling operations.
Ensure that mine stope production activities are undertaken according to mine designs.
Responsibilities: –
Ensure that all mining activities are according to the survey and design and controls
Ensuring that the operatives meet daily production targets as set in the mine plans
Ensure quality service from Technical Service Departments on time and comply with legal requirements.
Ensure that backfill operations are done to standard and plan
Ensure that the excavation of all mine developments and stopes is as per standard requirements.
Ensuring that the correct ore and head grade is mined and delivered to the ROM pad.
Ensuring the maintenance of high safety standards for all employees under his responsibility.
Ensure that all work areas have adequate ventilation.
Skills & Qualifications: –
Grade 12 certificate
Diploma in Mining
Degree in Mining will be an added advantage
Minimum of 4 years work experience in a reputable mine
Holder of a valid Blasting License & First Aid Certificate
Exposure to sub-level open stope and backfill mining operations is a must
Computer literate

Job Purpose;
Reporting to the Mine Captain, the job purpose will be to ensure quality work is delivered and meet planned production targets and enforce company rules, standards, procedures, and policies. The responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
• To be appointed under Mining Regulation (MR) 213 and record entries of the Log Book appropriately
• Responsible for micro-managing load and haul operations in a shift assigned to you
• Monitor cycle times as the shift progresses and take appropriate action/decision to improve efficiency
• Continuously identify operational bottlenecks and take appropriate action in a timely manner
• Conduct PEP talks with men and women in your shift and understand their state of mind before assigning them machines
• Signing off of machine checklists before operators use machines and report defects through the established communication channel
• Responsible for maintaining waste dumps
• Carry out operations in such a way so as to meet shift mining targets
• Other tasks as assigned by the Assistant Mine Manager.
Qualifications:
• Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering from a reputable University
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mining engineering with bias towards load and haul or in operations
• Must have experience in large underground operations utilizing large scale mining equipment i.e. prior load and haul experience essential
• Must show a commitment to learn and adapt to underground mine operations
• Able to compile and initial incident report
• Must have excellent written and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to deliver results and provide leadership to personnel
• MUST be a holder of both a Zambian Blasting License and a manual Driver`s License
• Must be a holder of First Aid Certificate

The Person – In – Charge is responsible with the safe, efficient and productive supervision and implementation of drilling program(s) within the surface mining operation.
The incumbent performs all duties for this position in accordance with Company Policies, Management Systems, and Standard Operating Procedures
Key Responsibilities
• Implementing drilling operations including alignment, realignment, positioning and repositioning of drill rigs, on the area of responsibility and/ or shot, and ensuring that they are completed as per schedule
• Planning, organising and coordinating drill rig operations and operators
• Make regular reports to the drilling Shift Boss on the progress of operations
• Implementing safety measures and regularly monitoring them for irregularities
• Monitor all the drilling operations and make decisions regarding continuation or abandonment of the drill rig in extreme weather conditions
• Supervising the systematic documentation of the drill rig operations, conditions and consumables (bits, hummers, drill rods, danger tapes) by Drillers
• Mark patterns, locations, and depths of charge holes for drilling including bracketing etc, and issue drilling instructions
• Instruct the measuring of depths of drilled blast holes, using weighted tape measures and ensure re-drills as necessary
• Examine drilling areas to determine amounts and kinds of consumables (bits, hummers, drill rods, water etc) needed and to ensure that safety laws are observed.
• Organise documentation of PPE issues and re-issues as may be necessary for subordinates
• To orient, develop and motivate subordinates (Drillers, Samplers etc), and render technical support and guidance with the aim to promote team spirit.
• Participate in recommending or executing personnel actions, such as discipline
Qualifications
• Minimum Grade 12 Certificate
• Certificate in Mining / Mineral Science or any related Course.
• First Aid certificate holder
• Holder of a Blasting License
Experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an open pit mining environment.
• Familiarity with the use of tools, fixtures and equipment for blasting aids
Drill Rig Operator x3
Reporting to the Drilling Supervisor, you will be responsible for safe operation of the open pit drill rigs. Your duties will include but not limited to the following:
Job Responsibilities
• Safe operation of the drills for blasting purposes according to the mine plan
• Communicating regularly with other crew members to ensure that operations are proceeding as planned
• Report all safety concerns and breakdowns observed on and around the machine and on the drill pattern
• Report machine breakdowns through the stablished reporting procedure
• Meet drilling meterage target per shift as scheduled
• Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or superior
Experience & Qualifications
• MUST have a certificate of competence to operate a surface production drill rig that uses down the hole or top hammer
• MUST be able to read and write
• Minimum relevant experience of 4 years drilling
• Should have a basic understanding of the various components of the equipment, how they work together and how to troubleshoot any issues that may arise
• Prior exposure to Sandvik Leopard DI650i, Pantera DP1500i, Epiroc D55, Atlas Copco T35, Sunward SWDE 120B will be an added advantage
Education Requirement: No Requirements
2. LHD Operator (x3)
He /she will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements such as observing stipulated safety codes at all times. The job will involve lashing development ends and stopes, hauling ore, or waste materials to underground assigned areas. The operator is expected to load Trucks and keep all roads in working areas clean and free from potential hazards.
The role will include but not be limited to the following responsibilities:
A sound understanding of pertinent safety standards related to operation of large equipment.
Ability to meet targets given.
Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.
Able to follow the prescribed safety regulations and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions.
Other duties assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of Grade 12 certificate
Minimum of 3 years work experience as a Loader Operator and worked on the following machines:
- Sandvik Loaders (LH514 and LH517)
- Scooptram ST1030
- Caterpillar
- And other or equal machinery
