SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Position: Senior Accountant
Location: Ndola (Butchery & Bakery Operations)
Reports To: Chief Accountant
Industry: FMCG / Food Production

Our organisation is seeking a highly competent and motivated Senior Accountant to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and supporting cost management across the Butchery and Bakery operations. S/he will deputise the Chief Accountant and provide technical leadership within the finance team.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and update the general ledger for all business units.
Prepare journal entries, adjustments, accruals, and reconciliations.
Lead monthend and yearend closing processes.
Prepare draft financial statements and audit schedules.
Analyze account balances and investigate variances.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Review postings from subledgers (AP, AR, Inventory, Payroll).
Ensure proper cost allocation to departments and cost centers.
Reconcile inventory accounts and monitor WIP and finished goods.
Assist with cost of sales calculations and stock valuation.
Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register.
Ensure compliance with Zambian tax laws and statutory requirements.
Strengthen internal controls and support audit processes.
Supervise junior accounting staff and deputize the Chief Accountant when required.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

Professional Qualification:

ZICA Licentiate or ZICA Professional, OR
ACCA Level 2 or above, OR
CIMA Advanced Diploma or above.
Valid ZICA Membership (mandatory).
Minimum 3 years traceable experience in accounting or finance.
Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, bakery, butchery, or production environments is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
