Job Description
Job Purpose
The Safety Officer will implement, monitor, and maintain workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures at our operations to ensure total compliance with Zambian statutory regulations and to maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily workplace inspections to identify and mitigate operational hazards.
Ensure full compliance with the Mines Safety Department and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Monitor the safe operation of heavy equipment, machinery, and lifting gear.
Lead investigations into incidents or near-misses and draft corrective action reports.
Deliver safety inductions, training, regular safety briefings, and enforce the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment.
Manage operational risks, including dust control, noise levels, and safe systems of work.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
2 to 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in a heavy industry, mining, or manufacturing environment in Zambia.
Strong working knowledge of the Zambian Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Zambia Environmental Management Agency regulations.
Valid professional safety certificates are highly desirable.
