SITE OPERATIONS MANAGER – MINING & CIVIL CONSTRUCTION

Location: Kalumbila, North-Western Province, Zambia

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated and results-driven Site Operations Manager to take full responsibility for our construction and earthmoving operations in Kalumbila.

Our operations include civil construction, drainage works, earthworks and heavy equipment operations.

The successful candidate will oversee multiple work fronts, manage site supervisors and personnel, coordinate equipment and resources, and ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule and within budget.

We are looking for a strong, independent leader capable of managing day-to-day site operations with minimal supervision from senior management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Take overall responsibility for daily site operations and project execution.
- Directly manage site supervisors, equipment operators and construction teams.
- Establish clear reporting structures, maintain discipline and resolve workplace conflicts.
- Plan and coordinate civil construction, drainage, earthmoving and related activities.
- Manage excavators, TLBs, trucks, light vehicles and other equipment.
- Monitor equipment utilisation, fuel consumption, downtime and productivity.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with site safety requirements, quality standards and company procedures.
- Monitor project costs, labour allocation, materials and operational efficiency.
- Verify completed work quantities and ensure accurate documentation for invoicing.
- Prepare daily operational updates and weekly progress reports.
- Identify and resolve operational challenges independently, escalating major issues when necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- Minimum 8 years experience in civil construction, mining construction or earthmoving operations.
- At least 3 years in a senior site supervisory or management position.
- Proven experience managing multiple supervisors, construction teams and heavy equipment.
- Strong practical knowledge of drainage construction, earthworks and civil engineering projects.
- Previous experience working on major mining or industrial construction sites is highly advantageous.
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is advantageous. Extensive relevant practical experience will also be considered.
- Strong leadership, conflict-resolution and decision-making abilities.
- Good understanding of site safety requirements, equipment management and project cost control.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel, email and operational reporting.
- Valid driver's licence.
